Raise (a playlist)… (don’t get too excited)

This is the “soundtrack” for my current novel. I’ve completed the rough draft for the manuscript, and I’m going through edits–an eternity of a process now that I pretty much relegate writing time from 5:30 am to 6:20 am or so. That isn’t borne of preference, but of necessity, by the way. It’s what happens when you work a 40 hour week doing husbandry, maintenance, and commuting an hour and a half, to come home to an amazing daughter who does. not. slow. down. I love her more than I ever though possible, for the record. She changed my life in the best way possible.

Anyway: here goes. These songs more or less fit specific scenes in the novel. You know, one of the things I really wanted with this site was to take you with me on the process of completing and attempting to publish something after SC Noir. Success or failure, I wanted you all there every step of the way. This is the first post in what I want to be a dialogue, even it it’s a one sided dialogue. I’ll do the talking, you do the listening… but of course, feel free to say something about any of these tracks. Or offer up any tracks that remind you of being young, dumb, and full of… some kinda something. I’m talking about that essence of knowing everything and nothing, of not giving a shit, of beating the whole world into submission even as it clubs you in the back of the head and leaves you spinning in the dark, a dumb grin on your face and fire in your belly.

In two weeks: Let’s Talk About It Comes at Night! A fantastic little slow-burn from last year that explores the sacrifice of humanity for survival. Without zombies.
